3 Recipes, 2 Cooking Tips and 1 Moment of Calm

Happy Friday everyone (and we won't mention the other word that goes with Friday this week anymore!)

For those of you celebrating Thanksgiving yesterday, I hope your day went well, in whatever way that looked like for you - we don't have a tradition of thanksgiving in the UK but I do think it's good to pause a moment and think about what we're thankful for. So easy to forget the good stuff sometimes. I'm grateful for all of you here, for one - your emails with such interesting thoughts and ideas always cheer up my busy weeks. It's good to know there are so many people around the world also navigating the challenges life throws at us and getting creative about cooking in between all of the madness πŸ™ƒ

It's still all go here with 2 weeks (we hope) now until our big home move. I'm so looking forward to switching off all the spreadsheets, project plans and plumbing paraphernalia and just sit down and rest a while over the holidays. It's been quite a year again.

It's been so busy that I actually emptied my 'prepped and ready' freezer drawer this week so I got up early this morning and put an 8 portion recipe of bolognese sauce into that Instant Pot Mini - the recipe was right up to that max line but the Mini handled it with aplomb! I do like this little friendly faced Instant Pot. And yes, I'm grateful for the that little bulbous one too.

I've just finished my 3 part YouTube video series on the Mini and so many of you have been asking for Mini recipes so I'm going to plan some of those next. Hopefully they'll help along you new Mini owners.

If you're still deciding on buying an Instant Pot, this week's video compares the new Mini 4Qt with the Duo Plus Whisper Quiet 6Qt. They're both great Instant Pots and I've tried to highlight some of the key differences that might tip you towards one or the other. From the size, the sound, the control panel and the functions, there's often something that can be a dealbreaker or a dealmaker for your style of cooking - hopefully I've caught most of them and I can help reduce that decision fatigue 😊

2 Cooking Tips for new Instant Pot Users

πŸ“– If you've just got an Instant Pot and are feeling completely lost, first know that you are not alone, and second, take a look at this page from the US Instant Pot Site - it can help you get an idea on cooking times.

As you get more experienced, you will likely change some of these to your own taste but as you're learning, lists like this can make a really good starting point as you try out these new ways of cooking.

The Weekly Eatly 3 Recipes, 2 Cooking Tips and 1 Moment of Calm Happy Friday everyone, Keeping cozy (and the best way to top your soup!) As the wind picks up and the snow is falling up here in north of the UK, I’m keeping cosy at home. (Well, I would be if our new heating system was working 😳 ...let’s not go there) I’m so happy to have a plentiful pantry when the weather turns like this. This week, in β€˜the moments in between’, I’ve been taking little time-outs to organise my food cupboards....

The Weekly Eatly 3 Recipes, 2 Cooking Tips and 1 Moment of Calm Happy Friday everyone and, more importantly, happy Halloween! I tried so very hard today to make my new Instant Pot Mini look a little spooky but no matter what I do, this thing just keeps on looking super cute! There is just something about its jolly, stumpy form that makes me smile. I've never been a fan of small Instant Pots but I must admit I've been really enjoying testing this one. Also dressing it up! This new mini is...
